Hi, I'm Karthik Unnikrishnan

2nd year undergrad at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kerala. I build AI systems, work on open-source infrastructure, and write about everything I learn.

Currently a mentee at Magma (Linux Foundation Networking) — went from zero knowledge of mobile core networks to deploying a full 4G/5G network stack, fixing a real bug across 14 files, and shipping a PR to a production codebase.

Outside of networking I build AI agents, full-stack platforms, and multimodal systems. Exploring agentic AI frameworks and ML research.

Open Source Mentee Jan-May 2026

Magma — Linux Foundation Networking Project

Deployed a 4G/5G network stack from scratch. Audited lte/gateway Dockerfiles, found and fixed broken Ubuntu 24.04 packages (python3-distutils, libssl1.1), updated subscriberdb to Ubuntu 24.04, and upgraded CI to a matrix strategy testing ubuntu-20.04 and ubuntu-24.04. Fixed a real bug spanning 14 files and submitted a PR to the production codebase.
